Where the Dreamings Come From
Shot on Sony FX9 & Alpha 7S III
In the 1920s, a long drought forced the indigenous people of the Petermann Ranges to leave their country in search of more fertile lands. After some 700kms travelled, they came across the spectacular valley of Areyonga, nestled in a gorge with free flowing creek beds and a permanent water source. The people of Areyonga still hold a close connection to their ancestral homeland to this day.
This film documents the visit of the Areyonga School back to Uluru and Mutitjulu, where elders pass onto the younger generation their Tjukurpa and share the dreamings of their ancestors.
